We just call them sparrows, Count B.
Next to the Starlings, they are the messiest birds we have.
Good shot.

---Dunnock to the less well Educated---

Richie I can guarantee you that there's nothing wrong with my education, but both 'Prunella modularis' and 'Dunnock' are unkown to me. I've visited Wiki and have read that the name 'Dunnock' comes from the Ancient British. More common names are Hedge Accentor, Hedge Sparrow, or Hedge Warbler.

Regards, Cornelius.

If MA degree is not enough to recognise a sparrow when I see one, I wonder what is ...?
Am eagerly joining the uneducated group against your nomenclature and ornithological overeducation !!! LOL
Sheer everyday miracle - I do like them sparrers most of all [said Mary Poppins].

I don't know about Dunnock, I would call it a sparrow. Caught him nicely in his hiding place.
