I agree as to the most fitting presentation, alas... Such post should be made by our agent SOT [TicK] because he provides story to accompany his images. Here my ignorance shows only too clearly and prevents me from getting the full message. Hopefully there will be more posts from your Blyth Battery Today...R.:) SAM & SAAB

Richie, to me your narrative is cryptic. I suppose that it has to do with the, in 1916 built, Blyth Battery to protect northern England from German sea attacks. If so, it doesn't make clear to me why you've posted a B&W picture (with selective coloring) of a German soldier (corporal) from the WWII time. Must have something to do with a Commemoration Ceremony.

Richie, did you have an uncle, or your father, serve at Blyth Battery? Blyth Battery was an easy google search and I learned a lot their mission with both word and picture provided. I also learned the rank structure by googling "Gefreiter." So, you had me pretty busy on this one.
I am only guessing but I believe the connection of the title with the location deals with the German soldier being "turned away" and being frustrated by the tenacity of the British soldiers.
A great presentation.
