Bessie Surtees House is the name of two merchants' houses on Newcastle's Sandhill that were built in the 16th and 17th centuries. The buildings are a fine and rare example of Jacobean domestic architecture. The house is best known as the scene of the elopement of Bessie Surtees and John Scott, who later became Lord Chancellor. I'd like to have you believe I left the man in to give it a perspective but that's not the truth..I simply liked the colour of his shoes....R.

A window washer could retire working for them, Count.

All these lines, squares plus one triangle and the rounded door edges...
This is one beautiful building full of fascinating geometry that indeed looks as if ahead of the time.
I agree as to the window washing with our SOT.

Bessie would have been impressed Richie.
His shoes are fine but not a patch on this wonderful building.
Well taken with super clarity and detail

Each grouping of windows seems to have their own reflections, their own stories.
