Mother must be quite near somewhere. Good one. I have seen how the mother shoos them away when they are a little older and still hanging around mum.

I think they are delightful - not ugly at all :)
They are remarkably similar to our NZ Pukekos. They also have feet enormously disproportionate to their size as chicks.
Have a look at this - I am sure you will love it and I am sure you could train birds just as well :)
