Because of 'Wear' in your 'narrative', this must be the Tyne river, Richie. Great composition larded with a wonderful dramatic sky, resulting in a very moody landscape image!
Edit: both Richie and Bob have told me that my assumption being the river Tyne, in spite that I had high figures for geography during my school time, was incorrect. It's the river Wear however. One is never too old to learn, ☺ . Thanks for the correction!

This is just personal opinion, but the sky seems overly strong, distracting from the center of the scene. Also, there seems to be a "glow" around the castle that makes it look artificial. Given the reflections in the pond, I would expect a brighter sky.
It is a beautiful scene but what draws my interest is the very bottom of the photo. It appears that you are shooting from some man made tributary, the river water pouring around the open edges of a concrete barrier, almost like a very shallow dam. Makes my imagination turn.
