on Vyšehrad Rock in Prague

Princess Libuse (read “Libushe”) was the daughter of Krok and as legend has it, she had visionary powers.

She became the first woman to rule Prague and married a humble ploughman Premysl. Together they started the Premyslid dynasty that would rule for 400 long years.

Libuse is said to have foreseen the seven hills of Prague growing into a marvellous city (which indeed happened), thus she’s considered to be the mother of beautiful Prague.

On top of the rock you can see the ruins of her baths.

wow! just look how the castle is built into the rock surface! Is this part of the main castle in Prague? - I was there a year ago last November and the castle was an amazing place - so vast and the cathedral within the walls was incredibly beautiful! Patti

An amazing castle built on rocks. I can imagine their heating bills in the winter! Thanks for sharing this one Chris.

Well, I guess it was hard to move mountains back then, even if you could foresee them growing together. I just wouldn't want to have slipped on a bar of soap from that lofty bath..lol....nice job, Chris.

lol... when i saw the name in my friends menu i thought it would be a shot with some modern baths with water in it... but lol... what surprise i've got when i opened it... a castle built in rock & no water at all, just dry & old rocks... Anyway the surprise is superb as this is a superb shot. Well done...

Beauty is no quality in things themselves. It exists merely in the mind which contemplates them, and each mind perceives a different beauty.
