This is one of The Jewels in the Crown of Port Sunlight. It is The Lady Lever Art Gallery. Built in 1922 as a memorial to Lever's late wife it is a magnificent gallery housing several wonderful collections including early Wedgwood Jasperware and Pre -Raphaelite paintings. Co-incidentally one of which is my favourite painting of all; the very beautiful, somewhat disturbing and thought provoking The Scapegoat by William Holman Hunt.

Thats an interesting picture and narrative Steve. I have to admit its not a painting I would normally have looked at, but now I think its touching. I enjoy art galleries, although have to admit that I prefer the old masters to the modern works such as "unmade bed".

Thats a very impressive building, you know its always going to have intersting things inside.

I am extremely fond about painting [although mistake JJ Rousseau for Theodore Rousseau and vice versa LOL] and any link to any painting gallery drives me simply crazy ..
Thanks so much for the image and links and everything, Steve !!!
