This is one of the wonderful plaques that form part of The War Memorial in the centre of Port Sunlight Village. The Memorial itself is one of the most extraordinary, beautiful and moving war memorials that I've seen. I thought it fitting to post this and #2 today 11th November, Remembrance Day or Veterans' Day to our American friends.

Lest we forget. There is something about war memorials and cenotaphs that always brings a lump to my throat. This is a wonderful post Steve.

I nearly posted a picture of a memorial to the Battle of Britain tonight. I'm glad you posted this one. I've been criticised for wearing a ribbon this week - can you believe! - and this is something I feel strongly about. They almost look real the way you've taken this Steve, it's very well observed.

When you're through with life and all hope is lost. Hold out your hand 'cos friends will be friends - right till the end.

if we forget our veterans or take them lightly, then we don't deserve the liberties they fought, and in to many cases, died to preserve for us
