This is a slightly romantic view of The Tranmere Oil Terminal showing a ship unloading oil to be piped to The Stanlow Oil Refinery. The smaller ship to the left of the picture is the ship in "Big Ship". I think the colours and the haziness of the atmosphere remind me very slightly of some of Turner's paintings, Here.

I loved the link you gave us to view Turner's paintings, and I have to agree with your assessment. Very lovely view of this scene.

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon

Yes, it's very reminiscent of Turner's masterpiece, which I love. Well shot Steve - I like this one a lot.

You must have painted this from the same palette as Turner... the pale colours are lovely.

I've got "Ferry 'cross the Mersey" playing over in my head now. I especially like the clouds that look as soft as brush strokes.
