This is the amazing Anderton Boat Lift in action. The white boat on the right is descending whilst the two narrowboats on the left are ascending.

Well done Steve on another shot of this cranky but practical piece of Victorian engineering. The canals were the motorway transport routes of a pre steam era with horse drawn barges as you know. :o) Try telling kids 2day they were the good olde days. ;o)
