I can recognise very few flowers (Mrs Braces does the gardening round here) but this is one that I do know. It's an Allium which is a member of the onion family. This one, and its friend, is in The Walled Garden (more of which tomorrow) at Royden Park on the Wirral in Merseyside, North-West England.

I know onions, but not alliums. Nice shot, but tell me. Was that bee crying while roaming around on that thing?

It's an allium indeed. Nice work Steve, you really did good with the sharp focus on the flower and the soft blurred background. Interesting how the geometric shapes in the allium have come out strongly in this, and the bee's a nice touch too.
