These are Nigella sativa or Love-in-a-mist and I think they are wonderfully unusual and ornate, not to mention sensationally beautiful. The seeds are used as a spice. Some say the black seed also has healing properties and can be made into salves and the like.
These are wonderfully shot and have several different shades and because I like them so much, I am keeping them. :)
This makes me think of Christmas lights. I'm glad you've told me they're love in a mist - I've seen versions of those but they're not like this. I can see the fascination with this thing, it's very pretty.
oh yes I know these Steve! I grew some once, but was so disappointed because the flowers last such a short time, sometimes gone in one day! but very beautiful and your capture is too!
