This is an Okapi at Chester Zoo in North-West England. It is a close relative of The Giraffe (like giraffes, they have very long, blue tongues). Although I think it looks like a cross between a Giraffe, a Horse and a Zebra. That must have been one heck of a wild night!!

The rich colour of this Okapi against the pale green background really stands out very well. These animals never fail to amaze me with their odd markings. Great capture you have here. Well done!

Definitely the best shot of an okapi I've seen on Caedes. Super sharp and colorful. Thanks for sharing.

Wowzie..what a mixed up animal....confusing. It looks like it got the leftovers from some others. But I sure like seeing this, I had never seen one and am glad you posted this photo.V

They're great these things. Aren't they really rare in the wild - I think there was a piece somewhere earlier this week about the first picture of one in its native habitat because they're so secretive. This is a good one, it stands out against that background really well.

Very good picture of the okapi too. Seeing a live one was the highlight of my visit to the zoo. I have been fascinated by these creatures since I was a child. It was worth coming the whole way from Malta.

You know, I stared at and studied this animal for the longest time. I don't see very many of them in zoos. What a strange creature. it is beautiful. Wish you had some more pics of it.

I agree with that rough night statement. It is an odd colorful animal. Great post though. Very colorful. I seen it in the vb and rated it high.
