We're into a series of October storms on the western side of Britain. This image was taken at 2:45pm 20th October 2008 and is, of course, The Perch Rock Lighthouse, New Brighton at the mouth of The River Mersey.

Some suitable climactic music now. the Dies Irae and Tuba Mirum from the Berlioz Grande Messe des Morts. One of the most powerful pieces of Classical Choral music ever written. This performance is from The 2000 Proms sung in The Albert Hall. Mrs B and I sang this same work in The Albert Hall in the mid 1980's.

Very good shot showing the lighthouse and the rough sea with what looks like a fishing boat coming in.

I faved the lighthouse as well evetS or is it Caruso? I would imagine you would need to be able to carry a tune to perform that musical piece. It goes well with what I imagine the sounds are outside the lighthouse.

Great post.

YOu sang in the Albert hall?? Wow I am impressed. Talking of impressed that is one heck of a capture. These always look as though you are in the water braving the waves to get these shots.

I think you're getting the same storms we've been having off the Massachusetts coast... Big waves, and I like the closer-up of the lighthouse!

It's the bright red against the cool greys and especially the graduated background that make these work for me. This is another fine example.
