Now see the sight! This unprepossessing street is Penny Lane in Liverpool. We all grew up listening to the song and whilst at University I lived in Halls of Residence about 50 yds from the end of Penny Lane.

The street sign at the bottom is now painted on the wall as every time a metal one was fixed to the wall it was stolen within a few days!

Oh I sure remember that song and loved the Beatles. This is a great way to display the actual Penny Lane in both directions. Wonderful colours & detail in your collage Steve. Way to go

Another snow storm hit and very high winds & we're still in snowsquall warnings. Will winter ever end up north?

That must be a pretty long time ago Steve when this Beatles song could be heard for the first time, but I still rembember it. Can imagine that souvenir hunters had stolen the metal sign again and again. Hope they don't take the painted bricks now out of the wall, lol.
Fine post.
Regards, Cornelius.

That's a song I hear too often... my name is Penny. And that's usually the first response I get. But I was madly in love with the Beatles and so don't mind it rumbling around in my head for a few hours each time.

Brings back memories - thanks Steve, also for the link. I looked up on google earth where Penny Lane is - I have never been in that area. Only know areas around Pier Head, Lord Street etc. Nice post!

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes . . . :)

Nice to see this Steve.
I travelled along here on the bus every day to work for a year.
From Brodie Ave to Old Hall Street.
Is the barber shop still there? It was then.

How about one of Strawberry Fields?
I have one but it has me in it lol -

I love all the brightness of this one Steve! I must admit I never knew there was really a Penny Lane myself. Now I can say I actually saw a picture of it! Thanks so much for sharing this.

Had a mate who did a phy ed course in Liverpool, who lived in Garston. I think we made the pilgrimage to PL on the way to a party at the halls of residence - must have been 20 years ago. Glad you posted this shot as it brings back some foggy memories of late night parties, Cavern Club exploits and a dodgy kebab in Toxeteth.

Very Interesting Steve! Why did the Beatles sing of Penny Lane? I would be interested in knowing. Maybe I'll search. Thanks for this trip down memory lane! The Beatles are still my favorite group. They had a sound of their own! Allen
