I wasn't sure what this plant was when I posted this image. Now, here's a whole bunch of them to confound me.

Edit I think Lyn has solved the problem These are Artichoke Thistles.

Each one looks like a mountainside with an Indian tribe making camp with little teepees all over the place. Great shot and the clarity is superb.
