A short while ago Admiral Tick asked why I keep showing swans and gulls on The Model Boating Lake on The New Brighton Promenade but never any model boats. Well, here is "Das Boot"

This is a model of U-534. Firstly, I must say that the real U-534 did not sink or attack any Allied shipping in WW II. Its full story can be seen on the link above. The full-sized U-534 has been restored in three sections and now forms an exhibition at Woodside Mersey Ferry Terminal.

All hands on deck..All hands on deck. We are surrounded by giant white birds. Throw all bread stuffs overboard. ...Pretty neat, Steve. It almost looks real. Nice shot for Admiral Tick.

Thanks Caruso. It looks like you are in a plane getting ready to attack. Untertauchen Untertauchen Untertauchen

A great post and thanks for shooting this one. I had a feeling it would look real and it does.

German submarines were a nightmare to the Allied Forces in WW II. The submarine U-534 (where U stands for 'Unterwasser' = submerged) was one of them. Live on board was very tough. The movie 'Das Boot' (German for 'The Boat') gives, in my opinion, only a dramatised view on the reality.
Your image shows a very detailed model of the U-534. See that it even has its own propulsion. The builder must be a perfectionist, and so you are as well Steve, as your image is very detailed and gives the impression that the real U-534 is still sailing.
Regards, Cornelius.
