Last Saturday Mrs b and I held a pork pie tasting. There were 14 of us taking part and we tasted 7 different pies altogether. The pies ranged from standard supermarket through Melton Mowbray and local bakers and finished with an award winning pie specially couriered to us from Wolverhampton.

In the end the pie from Wolverhampton (G) received the highest marks followed by a lovely pie (F) from a local baker.

OOOh they look so delicious. I would love to have tasted them. You have a great clear shot here !

I tried to make them once - years ago, for a dinner party no less. 'The Night of The Pork Pies' is still talked about by those unfortunate enough to have been there - my pies have been renamed Canon Balls and for some reason make people fall about laughing. Can't think why.

Yummy pork pies. I have a system with my pal Nia. I dont like the meat part but adore the pastry, and her the other way around so between us we polish them off. These look delicious xx
