The side view is because I couldn't get face-on without falling down a long hill. Besides, I like the geometry. I don't understand your comment "As a companion piece...etc." Are you saying symmetry is not a good composition effect?
First, I probably would have missed your response here, Karen, on your image's page ... had I not thought to come back and see what other comments your image had garnered. (I do this, sometimes.)
As a suggestion, feel free to use the message system in these situations.
Now then, your question and some clarification.
'Companion piece'.
Simply was suggesting another photo to place in your galleries along with the original here ... and if you felt inclined to do ... to re-shoot with a straight-on perspective.
Ergo, my other words about the setting 'screaming out symmetry to me'.
As I do think that symmetry is indeed a worthwhile composition effect to explore, given the subject of your photo.
Hi Karen, an interesting subject to photograph - the focus is very good and the colour is strong and appealing. My first thought is that it would make a really good image straight on. As I can see from your message above you were unable to take the photo straight on. I would suggest if you take it from an angle that you use the lines to create a visual effect, ie make sure all lines of the wall and rectangular shapes are visible and the lines are visually appealing. Just a suggestion, but nevertheless a very good shot!
..thanking you in advance for your comments. Please know that all your comments are appreciated....." Live well, love much, laugh often!" .... mygallery
A suggestion, or two:
Lighting conditions.
If possible, earlier or later in the day to minimize the challenge of exposing (properly)/exposure.
Have me curious as to to the why you didn't shoot this one straight on?
Well, perhaps a revisit is in order then?
As a companion piece for comparative purposes. (The setting, set-up, et al ... screams 'symmetry' to me.)
'We' ... shall wait right here. ;o)
