The Thick and Thin of It was taken at Easy Walker Park. I had just come up on the path on the north side when I saw this very thick cloud covered sky except it had several "holes" like the one you see in my picture. It was a very unusual sight to view. Thus the title, "the thick and thin of it."

You were lucky, John. That's a classic Alien Vortex Cloud, left by alien spacecraft after taking samples of life on earth. Interesting photo.

John, it's a so called 'Fallstreek hole', aka a 'hole punch cloud', 'punch hole cloud', 'skypunch', 'canal cloud' or 'cloud hole' too. When you'll check-out THIS LINK this phenomenon is explained.

It is like when you were a kid and money "burned a hole" in your pocket Shads.
I see SEA has explained it quite well.
It is quite a sight and you were fortunate to be looking up.

Glad you caught a shot of this as it's definitely not something you see everyday...quite unusual and intriguing...thanks to SEA for the link and some understanding of it...we may see more unusual things in the sky as time unfolds but meantime this is a cool discovery and shot.

Most unusual - well done on the capture. The clouds look like thick foamy soap.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Agent SAC, this is a most valuable contribution to the achievements of our famous SOS agency. I have been rather generous with assigning extra creds to some other agents... After all I am the Boss.
Thanks for the new DT for today because I feel very very happy - thanks also to our famous SAW who recovered my lost pics of baby Boris !!!!!!

Whoa, that's a fantastic shot and in full you can see there is a bit of a rainbow/sun dog in the thinner part. When I saw the title I thought it would have been ice, lol.
