Thus Gotama (Buddha) walked toward the town to gather alms, and the two Samanas recognized him solely by the perfection of his repose, by the calmness of his figure, in which there was no trace of seeking, desiring, imitating, or striving, only light and peace.
Hermann Hesse, Siddhartha

This fall I think you're riding for - it's a special kind of fall, a horrible kind. The man falling isn't permitted to feel or hear himself hit bottom. He just keeps falling and falling. The whole arrangement's designed for men who, at some time or other in their lives, were looking for something their own environment couldn't supply them with. Or they thought their own environment couldn't supply them with. So they gave up looking. They gave it up before they ever really even got started.
J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

When you get to the end of all the light you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.
Edward Teller

Your shadow is a confirmation that light has traveled nearly 93 million miles unobstructed, only to be deprived of reaching the ground in the final few feet thanks to you.

Along with your artwork, you always quote some of the most beautiful works of literature as an accompaniment. Catcher is the rye brought back some memory's from many years ago. Nice entry.

Love everything about this one, John...your chosen quotes and passages are particularly fitting to accompany this image...yes, I am 'mesmerized' by the cool color palette, the intriguing design, and the swirling, sweeping light really draws me in...faved.

Emptiness is not nothingness. It is simply the opposite of full of it.

With the bright sun glancing off the edges of the ice mountain, I enter the ice cave below, to pass under its ruby-encrusted roof, as though it were the throat of a giant magical beast. Sunlight filtering through crevasses and photoluminescent algae light my way. This one is a real beauty, John, truly like entering another world.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
