Never give all the heart, for love
Will hardly seem worth thinking of
To passionate women if it seem
Certain, and they never dream
That it fades out from kiss to kiss;
For everything that's lovely is
But a brief, dreamy, kind delight.
O never give the heart outright,
For they, for all smooth lips can say,
Have given their hearts up to the play.
And who could play it well enough
If deaf and dumb and blind with love?
He that made this knows all the cost,
W. B. Yeats, Never give all the heart

I even hear the mountains
the way they laugh
up and down their blue sides
and down in the water
the fish cry
and the water
is their tears.
I listen to the water
on nights I drink away
and the sadness becomes so great
I hear it in my clock
it becomes knobs upon my dresser
it becomes paper on the floor
it becomes a shoehorn
a laundry ticket
it becomes
cigarette smoke
climbing a chapel of dark vines. . .
it matters little
very little love is not so bad
or very little life
what counts
is waiting on walls
I was born for this
I was born to hustle roses down the avenues of the dead.
Charles Bukowski, Consummation Of Grief

The Carousel, Mad Men, David Carbonara

A great render to enjoy, John! When viewed in particular at full screen size, it's an overwhelming creation, very suitable for all kind of interpretations.
Sorry for you (☺), but for that reason, the always by you well selected quotes and links have, with respect to this by you created high level artwork, a somewhat lesser priority than the verbal of musical artworks of other ones now.

"What counts is waiting on walls"
Takes a pretty powerful image to do justice to Bukowski's poem of grief and resignation. This does. 'Nuff said

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

This concept and the execution of this work of art is overwhelming. A favorite. Powerful, strong image, and yet somehow, soothing. The quotes and music are simply mind blowing, truly an excellent concept from all sides. Bravo!

Wow, what an image, John...there is a magnetism to it that really draws me into its' depths and darkness...your chosen passages, heart-wrenching, and while I never watched that series, the musical score is quite captivating...a terrific post and fave for me.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
