All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere

Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world, mad world
Mad World, Gary Jules lyrics, originally by Tears for Fears

If someone invented a thermometer that measured weirdness, it would probably melt under my tongue.
Dean Koontz, Odd Thomas

I have found both freedom and safety in my madness; the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us.
Kahlil Gibran, The Madman

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

Mad World, Gary Jules

For some reason I always associated the song with Simon and Garfunkel. Love the quote by Dean Koontz.
Eerie concoction to go with title Strat. Excellent but eerie.
It's like the shadows in the back of the mind have come to life.
So well done.

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.

Haunting and intriguing...love the colors...there is a look of seeming resignation on the collection of faces as if they are all lost souls...also like the appearance of rust and corrosion on the tubular shapes...great work, John!

I wasn't only struck by your great render John, but struck too by your music link. It's not only an appropriate audio selection but a very artistic video as well, showing some children making animated figures on the sidewalk below. Not mentioning the by you selected quotes wouldn't do justice to the wisdom that they're telling us, so I like to express my appreciation for that here as well!
Great post per usual, 👍 !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
