He shouted to them, with the idea of driving them off, and, finding they did not budge, cast about him, picked up a big rounded lump of rock, and flung it at one. And then, slowly uncoiling their tentacles, they all began moving towards him ‐ creeping at first deliberately, and making a soft purring sound to each other.
H.G. Wells, The Sea Raiders

Be not afraid of whirlpools,
of strong winds, and murky waves.
Fear the creature that dwells
in the darkest depths,
the ice‐shackled Kraken,
that threatens to surface
and your soul to keep.
Erna Grcic, Beneath the Surface

When I look down into the abyss,
Down into the merciless blackness,
Colder and deeper than Hades itself,
There I see the Kraken rising.

First closely examining your submission, John, then reading your post text, I really did see this as a wave of either water or menace, a menace that was unthinking, unfeeling, simply going about its nature as would the sharks that Lyn Eve in New Zealand spoke of in a recent submission, the sharks attacking a young swimmer. . . because they are sharks. . . and your wave is a wave.

Sinister but understandable.

John, I wouldn't feel myself at ease when I was forced to enter Octopoda's Terrarium.
But behind my screen nothing can happen to me, 😁 .
Maybe I'm a coward, but it gives me the opportunity to see it at full screen size without having any fear, and to read your quote, poems and listening the music of your music links.
Perfectly done again!

Two eyes, four pairs of arms and bilateral symmetry - this octopoda, must remain in its terrarium, and I without(it be a plant, in a terranium ?) lest it doth create in my mind the stuff of nightmares and terrors unthinkable. Eeeek !
Is is a plant, is it is a creature ? I don't know.
I believe even now I hear it purr, and it is no feline, but maybe a creature of the deep masquerading as vegetation, plotting to reach out its tentacles and devour any passing innocent being, devoid of mercy, without warning, without thinking, because plants do not think.
Or do they ?

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
