Outside McDougal's Cave

At eighteen our convictions are hills from which we look; at forty‐five they are caves in which we hide.
F. Scott Fitzgerald

Maybe when all was said and done, the imagination was the most powerful of all weapons. It was the imagination of the human race that had allowed it to dream of a life beyond cold caves and of a possible future in the stars.
Dean Koontz

I'm not that tough; I'm not that smart. I need life telling me who I am, showing me my mind constantly. I wouldn't see it in a cave.
Richard Gere

John, your title suggests that you created this very nice B&W render after leaving the McDougal's Cave after visiting its interior. In that case, it probably wasn't easy to leave McDougal's Cave, because of the mesmerizing complex structure there and/or because of the enchanting and attention-holding character of the interior.
In any case, the result of your 'observation' is great again.

The imagination sure is powerful !I'm not sure what our convictions become when we reach a much older age - maybe we begin to have a change of heart. Anyway these caves are at once mesmerizing and alarming !

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
