The Extraction of the Man from the Moon

We have lost even this twilight.
No one saw us this evening hand in hand
while the blue night dropped on the world.

I have seen from my window
the fiesta of sunset in the distant mountain tops.

Sometimes a piece of sun
burned like a coin in my hand.

I remembered you with my soul clenched
in that sadness of mine that you know.

Where were you then?
Who else was there?
Saying what?
Why will the whole of love come on me suddenly
when I am sad and feel you are far away?

The book fell that always closed at twilight
and my blue sweater rolled like a hurt dog at my feet.

Always, always you recede through the evenings
toward the twilight erasing statues.

John, to me, this is a beautiful and intriguing render. But if I were to formulate a fitting comment on it, honestly I wouldn't know what to say. Your narrative and music links attempt to assist me in this, but fail to do so.
Perhaps my imagination is experiencing a blackout. If this is the case, I hope it's temporary, so that next time I can provide your work with an adequate comment again.

Perhaps the man from the moon is evolving into his own longing. In Pablo's case, almost certainly for Matilde, but the longing is there for anyone to associate with.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

I think Lyn's interpretation is very insightful and akin to what I derive from this whole presentation. The text, 'Clenched Soul', is deeply profound and touches some nameless part of the human heart and psyche. Your choice to include it here hints at something closer to home, personal. An intriguing piece of work, John.
