now THAT had to have been a difficult shot to capture!! wowzer!! A praying Mantis...sitting still enough for you to take a pic of..wow...wonderful silhouette against that pretty sky!!!

To have had the forghought to not only snap a pic of this fellow, but to pose and compose as well is mystifying. Good work.

I think having clouds for the background is a smart move because they look good even when they are out of focus. You managed to create a dramatic image of the Praying Mantis.

and now.. for the image :) the sky makes a wonderful background and the praying mantis really stands out against it - it forms a great contrast, especially because of the black colour. and the rock on which is the mantis standing.. this looks like a pride rock scene from the lion king! you should try to sell it to disney, heheh :)

Beautiful contre-jour image. The silhouetted mantis is given an atmosphere of power because of the angle of the shot, and the darkened insect has a wistful feeling about it. You made a really creative shot here.
