I also like the contrasts of the sky as it rests above the sea, the contrast of the ever changing cumulus clouds and the constantcy of the body of water below.
Ok, as so often happens when viewing your images, Chris.. don't quite 'get' them initially.
That is, and until after having downloaded them and messed around a bit with some additional edits/post processing. Which.. I did.
Then, taking a look at the link you posted over on the "Desktop Wallpaper, Art, etc." section of the forums with respect to that of photographer Mitch Dobrowner's work ... all came together.
So..
Really like the composition.
The placement of the two figures, to my eyes, are in opposition (geometrically speaking) to the rain occurring on the horizon in the left-hand side. Works very well, regardless of whether or not I am on the money insofar as compositional intent is concerned.

I do think that the range of tonalities could be a tad.. a tad, better. Lil'.. flat.
Lil', that is.. with respect to midtones and highlights.
Could try Bethany's; Digital_Angel tip on viewing your image Inverted. See this thread here:
Some of the dimensionality of the clouds and that of the light from the heavens that does manage to peek through.. is lost. (To my eyes and monitor, and qualifying things.)
Which segues nicely (:oP) to what I came up in Photoshop and a question of sorts:
