Hey Chris, I remember him from a previous post with the dual screens...reading over your shoulder!

A nice portrait finished with sensitivity. There is a lot of character in the face which you have left with just the right amount of softness.
Not sure whether your title means it is a memory revisited for you - I think perhaps the contemplative expression of the subject suggests the memory is his.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Well, taking a page from your own galleries.. and admittedly, the first creative thought that popped into my mind ... think a B & W conversion would work well with your portrait here.

Hope you don't mind, as I had a go myself:

"A memory revisited" - B & W Conversion

(Shadow/Highlight adjustment.. High Pass Sharpening; radius 5.5).

What I liked about the conversion was reducing, mitigating some of the background distractions and putting more emphasis on your subject.

I didn't address the luminance of the medal on his lapel. Which I think should still hold some focal prominence, however.. knocked down a little.

Your photo.

I like the expression captured. Composition is fine.

Caveats?

Little stronger focus/clarity on the.. and at least.. the right eye (this perspective). As the DOF is not quite there.

I will also readily admit, that the expression.. direction of gaze.. does invite your viewers to contemplate the contemplation visually represented. As it did for me.

I like the B&W version. Nice work. The lack of DoF was caused by using only natural light in a rather dim room and trying to keep the ISO down low so f1.4 on my 50mm lens.
