To a lot of people, the province of Zeeland in the Netherlands is very attractive because of different reasons. Perhaps therefore in the summertime Zeeland is visited by a lot of Dutch and foreign tourists. As tourists spend money and have to pay, in an indrect way, some taxes on some occasions to the provincial or local government (e.g. integrated in admission fees), they are more than welcome (!). The provincial government, being very inventive, decided, well-considered, a couple of years ago to pay Zeeland farmers some subsidy for sowing flowers-seeds along the borders of their fields. So, as you can see on this image, a lot of fields and pastures in Zeeland are surrounded by flowers now, making Zeeland even more attractive to tourists than it already was.

PS: in my title I've mentioned them wildflowers because they grow in open fields, but on close examination is this not correct as this kind of flowers can be found in gardens and parks as well.

Hope you like this post. Thank you in advance for your comment.

That was a great idea of the government and the land owners to have the fields' borders planted with flowers as this image here shows. Beautiful flowers very well captured, Cornelius and the sky looks so sunny and bright.

Not only is it great for the tourists, it also makes a wonderful place for the wildlife and especially the butterflies. I suspect word is out to them and the hummingbirds that your country is going all out to attract them.
Great shot C. So colorful.
Good health to you and yours.

Some people have what they call...Wildflower Gardens... around here. That is something that I should look into. This is a gorgeous shot of the flowers, and the open field, the horses, the church steeple, barn and even a windmill. Very nice work, Cornelius. A very beautiful shot of your area.

Zeeland's rural planning (similar to urban planning) is quite beautiful. And, of course, your photo does the flower project much justice. Very nice photo, Cornelius.

As I think I've made clear in my posting of images of poppies in my gallery, I love these flowers especially in the wild. This is a simply gorgeous image Cornelius.
