Your B&W's always turn out so well Mr. C. with great ranges of tones and textures and this is a prime example.

If I lived in this neighborhood as a child, I would have guessed that this is a haunted building. The black and white not only increases the drama and detail, but it gives the structure a special but probably unintentional creepiness.

In college I took all the classes available for photography and then an additional number of credit hours in what was termed "advanced studies," which entailed the teacher becoming nothing more than an advisor and someone to critique the results. During all that time I shot, developed and printed nothing but black & white film, so I have a stronger appreciation and experience than most Caedesians with it. In the same manner that some old black & white movies from the 30's - 60's (or even today, ie. "Shchindler's List") far outshine one today that's loaded with CGI, black & white stills evoke so much more pathos and, by their very nature, require us to use more of our brains to interpret what we are seeing. Excellent work, Mr. C., and good for you for including a link to Lyn's "Black & White Challenge." I've been utching Caedes for years for a "Photo Journalism" gallery, but at least we have Lyn's challenge to increase our appreciation of art & thought.
