This capture was taken at a storm at sea in the vicinity of the peninsula Walcheren, Zeeland, The Netherlands.

The howling wind created not only a pretty high 'sea state' but a thin layer of sea water droplets just above the waves as well, so causing a certain blur. Because of the weather conditions the threatening sky and the shoreline weren't almost visible too.

Therefore it may, from photographic point of view, not be the optimal image, but on the other hand shows it the impact of these severe weather conditions and how the seamen are struggling in doing their responsible job (being a maritime pilot to guide seagoing vessels to and from the adjacent ports in a safe way).

It's my contribution for the 'water' contest. It's a long time ago that I participated in these Caedes-contests, but when I read Bruce his request, I'll give it a try again.

Looks pretty dangerous out there. If I was onboard, I would feel better knowing that the Skipper and Gilligan are on the SS Minnow and not this one. Best wishes in the contest, Mr C.

Mr. C. I think this really fits the contest so well. Drama at stormy seas says it so well. I like you hardly enter into the contests, I think for the same reason as you. But I will give it a go again. Good luck, and well captured. tigs=^..^=

That is a very choppy sea and you have captured the atmosphere of the storm beautifully. Best of luck in the contest Cornelius, it is a fine entry.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

This determined looking vessel seems well suited in the mercurial waters.

That looks so rough I can't imagine being on those waters - an excellent entry I think Mr. C. and I hope we can get more people back and involved as I would hate to see a small but wonderful site like this be lost.

I think that blur definitely adds to the nature of the photo, C. Here on the American northern plains, often with few trees to break the winter wind, we regularly experience minuscule hard-frozen flakes being blown in a horizontal line over the tops of equally-hard snow drifts. We call it ^snow fog^. It is good to see your capture of one of these intrepid craft as your entry. Veel geluk in the contest.

I am always amazed at how good your captures are. How small sailors must feel compared to nature
