I have wondered what do they do with the flowers after the event? Can they be used for feed for farm animals? Can they be given to hospital patients as bouquets? Are they just discarded? I truly hope there is a use for them as they provided so much joy in the parade for people.

John, you're right. As far as I know, the flower arrangements are offered to retirement homes, in this case in Middelburg or the surrounding area. My late parents spent their final years in such a retirement home. When I visited them after one of those gig ride events, I saw that some tables in the retirement home's restaurant were decorated with floral arrangements coming from the event.
