it was amazing how close the butterfly let my cousin get to it. I made a tutorial, and a small version of the origional shot can be seen in my Tutorial

I totally agree with B.J. This has turned out awesome, it's an awesome desktop, the composition is great, the titel is good, and the whole edit is good.
I think the original would be good also? Keep up the great work, high votes from me.

Only thing about the original as compared to this one is that I don't put other people on my desktop. That's why I love this. With this, I can get away with it. ;)

haha, i'm with BJ on this one, i much prefer pictures of people where it isnt about who the person is, rather something about the person, or what they are doing, that is why this effect works perfectly on people. also i think this edit is much better than the origional, because really the colours, and sharpness etc were'nt all that amazing in the origional, but when it is more abstract it is easier to add more apealing colours

actually I'm not a great fan of this effect but here it works pretty well. like the expression on the boy's face. it just miss a bit of contrast and shadows but other than that it is a nice work.
I'm curious the see the original shot though...

I love what this effect has done for this shot. It puts all the focus on the intimacy and interaction of the two. Into my favs it goes.

Carl - This is a superior effort. Great light and choice of filters. Subtle and not overdone, as is the case with many such manipulations. Kudos all the way around.

the filter is quite nice, works well with this photo and is probably better than the original. This belongs in photography->manipulation no?

I like the picture, but I find the editing to be really distracting. I think it actually takes away from the feeling of curiosity in the image. I think that a little editing would have been fine, but for me, this is too much.

Normally I don't like this effect, and I don't think there are very many appropriate uses for it, but I have to say, you found a great one! I really love this image and the way that this effect brings out just the details that are important to the essence of the photo.

This is wonderful! I even checked your 'tutorial' and saw all you did to put this together - I am impressed. The image is a beauty and your cousin too. I like that grainy look. The colors are nicely muted & the butterfly is lovely. I hope you do more like this. A+ for this work!!!
