What a great photo - you really caught the action and the colors are so vivid - I love the green and red against the white water. This really caught my eye - nice job!
My only suggestions would be to crop tighter (the shot's a bit too loose, remember "Tight and Bright" for sports/action), and shoot at 2.8 (or even 4) to help isolate the subject.

well you asked for it....kinda a long story. me and my dad one day decided to rent kayaks and paddle this river. we'd done it before in canoes, and we are good canoeists, but all we'd done in kayaks was one eskimo rolling session, so we werent exactly accomplished rollers. these guys here are good, i tried surfing that wave like that guy, survived the first try, cuz i didnt get the full way into it, but the second time i went all the way in and flipped, and wasnt good enough to right myself, so ended up floating almost all the way to the next big ledge before the other guys who we kinda joined up with pulled me to shore. the river was SO cold that your hands and feet are frozen within seconds making it almost imposible to hold onto your kayak and paddle AND swim to shore quickly all at the same time.
yep embarrasing story, to make it worse i also flipped again later when i wasnt trying anything special, hence we stopped and took pictures of people who could actually do it
