Amazing shot Carl. Good work with that macro. I am envious :) The detail here is great. I love how it looks like hairs on the branch. The snow shows up well. The white in the background on the left is a bit distracting when I first viewed the image, but after looking at it for a bit, it wasn't quite as bothersome. Overall, this is a really cool capture. Thanks :~)
I like the composition, the Backlighting and the use of a dark negative space background. The only other light areas besides the main subject are located directly behind it, adding to the eye focusing on the main subject.
AS CLOSE TO PERFECT AS ONE CAN GET. A 10 BY ME AND IN MY FAVORITES.

Completely enchanting!! The crisp clear snow agains the blurred backdrop is stunning. Similar colors every where and sharp focus is the key players in this image. Well done!
A beautiful photo, Mother Nature can be amazing in her infinite beauty, can't she ? And how delightful, you've managed to show it to us ! This pic is well worth the high marks you get !
beautiful capture Carl, ur picture encompasses the softness of the snow flakes & the dry crispy crunch or their settling on the branch. against the dark backdrop it makes a wicked picture. nice work :~) one of the best pics i've seen so far today
I might have to say this is one of your best shots. What other people have said above is mostly true in my books. Im guessing this is with your 80-200mm? Since im trying to figure out what can be done with all these different lenses i wonder if you were standing as close as you could focus or if you could have been closer still and still focused?
Then in their trouble they called to the Lord, and He saved them from their distress. He brought them out of their gloom and darkness and broke their chains in pieces. (Psalm 107:13-14)
Oh my goodness...this is awesome. What a macro. I have it up as my desktop background and something tells me it's going to stay there awhile. The detail is out of site. In many instances, one can see the individual cyrstals of snow. The backlighting is superb. How did you attain that?
I live in southern Louisiana and we do not get snow down here. So, I thank you for supplying me with a winter scene so real, I could reach out and touch it.

If my comment on your work ever seems to criticise, it does not. It is always so that we may learn together.
A little something? I just don't tolerate with such modesty! You either shoot out of passion or you don't shoot at all! Photography is about seeing things others can't see.
