this cool rock makes a great shield, and a spring comes out of the hillside right behind the rock, hence all the colourful deposits

What a powerful image you have there. The tree seems to reinforce the framing you added in post-production, and the diagonal formed by the hillside adds a good dynamic element to the image. The sky looks angry and ready to go off, and that adds an element of expectation to the image that I like.

Keep your eyes open there will always be a challenge to tackle
The composition of the photo makes it very dramatic. The rock towering over the area, the sky and tree tops all contribute to the atmosphere. However it seems to me that the blue border does not work in case of the bottom edge of the photo. I suppose it would be very difficult to choose the right color for it; a color, which would match the top and the bottom part of the composition.
