This picture means a lot to me. I have been dancing since I was three years old and now I am a senior in high school and preparing for my last recital. Just the thought makes me want to cry. I love dancing more than anything in the world. It is the only way I can let all of my emotions out and express how I really feel. I am in no shape or form a great dancer, but my passion for dance, made me feel I always brought something special to the stage.

:o)

You're a dancer? Really?

Kidding, kidding.

Could tell by some of your earlier images by the positions/posturing you assumed. Of which, I forget now (might have been 'first position' that I am recalling in one of yours.)

That stuff aside ... I like the DOF you employed here.

And of course, me, my fingers and pea brain have a suggestion ... hope you don't mind. As I was just thinking about this myself.

Your lighting source.

The 'magical hours of light', could still be used.

I found that the combination of early morning light in my case, as the living room is the room that gets hit by it (easterly'ish orientation) and achieves a warm, lovely glow ... diffused by the curtains that I have hanging ... really kicks things up a notch or two inside.

A companion image to your photo here, perhaps?

As the light quality presented here resembles, to my eyes, that of stage lighting. It works, of course on that level and maybe as you intended.

The background figurine looks like Royal Doulton, but I am not familiar with that of the one taking center stage? (Just curious, that's all.)

Last words, don't underestimate passion. That is def something that does translate on stage. And ... to your audience.

Much like your image here. :o)

Lovely image, Stephanie... It really touches my heart. When I was in high school... a 'few' years ago... I had dance lessons, first ballroom, then musical comedy dance. I LOVED it! I felt so alive and joyful when I was dancing, especially at the year's-end recitals which ran for two weekends. Dancing really helped me through those years. So thanks for reminding me. ;-)

Nice image, ditto on Jim's DOF comment. I love dancing, I could watch it all day long. :)

I like how there is a "deeper" meaning to this shot for you.

The picture says it even without your words. It speaks volumes. No surprise it means much to you. Your use of depth of field in this shot along with its title tells the story well. It would look good framed and on the wall too. Excellent example for the contest! Good luck.
