Quiet Sunset

I know they are quiet, but the sun just looks like it's quietly slipping under the water here.
I realize this is my first upload in a LONG time, and it's not the best. You'll hafta excuse the horizon straight up the middle. The cropping tool was not nice to me in PS.
Anyway, hope you still enjoy the colors. Thanks all for the comments!

I think the horizon line looks fine. That there is a nice color haze there helps hide any imperfections you might see that I can't. Nice to see you uploading again. This was certainly a very good one to come back in with...it's in my skies fave folder. Perfect, quiet sunset.

Beautiful colors and so serene. The birds of the air really add to the sense of being at sea. Lovely photo.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

A very beautiful and dramatic image that would benefit from a little noise reduction (such as NeatImage or Noiseware).

No kidding about being a long time ;), I was just thinking I hadn't posted in a while...but then you posted...it's certainly been longer for you :)

As you mentioned the horizon isn't ideally placed. Aside from that, I think the composition of the other elements is a tad lacking. Perhaps if everything was shifted left a little bit (so both the sun and boat were on/close to the thirds). Taking the composition out of the "picture" (no pun intended), the exposure is great, the graininess adds to the shot (IMO~some like grain some don't), the colors are well done.

Welcome back! Now, dust off that camera and get to it again :)

Morat has some mini contest/projects which are kind of fun to brush up the skills with/try different things.
