I think you have one of my typical photographing problems here. There are two interest points...the fountain and the sun...and they're not close enough together! I'd give up the sun before I gave up the fountain...because I just love the light on it. I wish the lamp near the fountain had come on yet...but perhaps that's a pic for another day...the fountain in the lamplight. Nicely focused, excellent subject, difficult task.
I agree with sharonva, there isn't a central focus point. My eye doesn't know where to land. I like this as two separate photos: The beautiful colors in the sunset and the suns rays shining through the trees, OR the fountain and lamp.
Agreed; but I must say, this is a beautiful scene. The right time of day, the right kind of sky and some very interesting subjects for this kind of light and shadow. Well done.
sharonva - I think this could have worked well as two separate images with two points of interest, but I think the contrast between them works well. I like busier images; they tend to keep my attention since there's more to look at. Perhaps on another evening like that one I could capture this a different way using the methods you've described.
