...back to Bramhall Hall which is just a few miles away and stands in 62 acres of parkland. You will find another photograph of the hall from the other side in mygallery The oldest part of the hall that stands today dates from the 14th century, although the estate itself dates back to around 1070 AD, to the time of William the Conqueror. In the 12th century the manor passed to the Bromale family. 200 years later it passed to the Davenports, who resided at Bramall for 500 years. The property today is owned by the National Trust and open for all to view.

Outstanding, Patti. The pattern looks more Swiss than English. Is this common?

What fascinating woodwork on the building...I sure wouldn't want the job of having to paint it, though...no vinyl siding on this baby!!! But the chimneys is what really knocked me off my visual feet. I can't imagine how big the fireplaces must be. And the tops of the chimneys are so artfully made. I wonder how long it took what master brick layer to construct those beautiful works of art. You've got a great eye, and I look forward to your pics :)PJ

Wow, that's really interesting. What artwork. They must have a ball maintaining that structure. Your capture is really clear and sharp. the commentary was very educational. Yes, and like phasmid said, the chimmney's are a knockout. Never seen anything like that. Great work. No need to respond.

Yes Maurice this type of building is very common in England - we have a lot of black and white historical buildings which look very similar to this. :)

I like things in a row and they're tricky to photograph but you've done an excellent job, Patti. The patterns and textures are very striking. I love visiting places with you! - Patty

They did Jason - these are all old buildings. You do get some modern buildings replicating the Tudor style but most of the buildings are from the Tudor era if they look like this. :)

Now I would love to visit here Patti. I just love the look of these buildings. Very pretty and I even like the chimneys too. Ours are usually just square at the top with no flair at all. Very nice photo.
