.....and that is exactly what you see - looking under one of the old bridges in the centre of Manchester down the canal - the Bridgewater Canal, Manchester Canal and Rochdale River all join just beyond this point. This canal network has undergone regeneration with restaurants and walkways - a nice place to wander away from the bustling city centre shops.

It looks like a terrific place for restaurants, casual bars, and walkways. You did a wonderful job of capturing a moment in its time. Even the water is calm for your shot!

Good post Patti. Reminds me some of Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas. I think you captured it perfectly and with narrative showed me that everyone all over the world is tired of hustle and bustle. It's really a small world. Like the photo which is simple but beautiful.

A couple of years ago I made a ride through the canals of London wich such a boat of an English friend of mine. On this occasion he told me that his long boat in former days was used for transportation of vegetables and fruit to London and now was converted into a comfortable boat to live on and to sail with. Watching your image, it brings back some sweet memories to this unforgetable ride. Thank you for that. Beside that it's a wonderful image! Regards, Cornelius

Right nice canals you got up there Patti. It is amazing how much regeneration is being done on them isn't it - I originate from Birmingham and they've done fantastic things with the canals there. Love narrowboats and messing about by water so this is a winner for me. Frame's great too, really makes it.

Nice shot Patti! I'm not sure about the transparency effect on the margin of the image, but the peacefulness and nostalgia of the old longboats is captured so well here.
