South of Denver and in the foothills of Pikes Peak there is an amazing park with some very strange but beautiful rock formations. This place is named The garden of the Gods. The area is owned by the city of Colorado Springs and is open to all for free. If you are into photography your best time to visit is late afternoon. If you want to just view the formations, any time of the day is good.. If time permits, park your car and walk some of the paths that take you right to the base of some of these structures. Early morning is best for this activity as the park is still pretty free of tourists. As you travel near these wonderful reminders of past upheavals. I am reminded of a saying that Rob Nevin uses."Shhhh" and enjoy the stillness of this place

I've been there. It's a beautiful place - that almost looks alien. This reminds me a lot of a photo Yenom took - you must have been standing in nearly the same place. You've captured this perfectly. A 10 from me.

Those clouds... looks like some fantasy movie, like the wizard lives on the other side. Well done, as always.

I think I should put this park in my list of places to be visited one day. You chose a great time to be there Bob. The light on those rocks has taken a luminous glow in places, I bet you could watch it changing like a slow movie. It’s an impressive image.

Just a very beautiful scene. You captured it at its best. It really does look the part of a place to explore quietly. 10 by me and thanks for the desktop.

Weird but true: A mother was heading to the entrance of a hospital to get her just released son when her car sped up and accidentally struck him. Along with his mother, the son was quickly readmitted the hospital with serious injuries.

I love the color contrasts and the play of light and shadows on the rocks in this. The green trees really balance the reds in the rock in a lovely way.

Colorado is paradise to the outdoors oriented ... too bad my ex still lives there and I'm overcome with a sense of dread and impending doom whenever I am reminded of ... the "C" word

I forgive you ... just this once .... You really should move, though ... ;o)

Love this view of lovely Colorado. The image almost looks unreal. Those rock formations look like hands jutting towards the sky. Speaking of the sky, those are lovely yet threatening clouds. Beautiful coloration too. Wonderful job and top marks...
