Built in 1813, the shrine is considered a masterpiece of Adobe architecture. It is a National Historic Landmark. For many Native Americans, and Spanish of the Southwest, the soil at El Santuario as well as at other sites in the area isbelieved to produce a mud that, when eaten or applied to the skin, has miraculous healing powers.

As alyways these adobe walls with the great earthy tones are so nice.Lots of small details in this one to entice.I like your choise of a different texture on the right frame, due to the difference in the right window I suspect.A good choise anyway as it works very well.

Given the elements, it's amazing that these buildings survive. Great shot Bob and well presented.

Good morning Photobob! I love this picture. Since I lived in Albuquerque for aprox. 20+ years of my life, I have a strong affinity for New Mexico. Chimayo was one of my favorite places. Thanks for sharing this picture, it certainly brings back some wonderful memories for me. By the way, you really did an excellent job here, the framing is perfect also. Have a peaceful and happy day!

Art is the perception of the creator. Meaning is the perception of the viewer. acceptance is the perception of society.
