When Cameraannie and I are on a shooting schedule we use the small town of Platoro, Colorado as our base camp. Our cabin is located on the outskirts of the town. We sometimes only get back there to refresh our clothes and food supply. Then it's off again! Today we must leave this beautiful spot and head for home. But we will be back on September 10.

I know it’s clouds but crikey it looks like bushfire and wouldn’t those townspeople be worried if it were. I do think the contrast is a little high Bob though it does make a dramatic photo. Overall a very pleasing image.

I like this shot but there's a ton that can be done with it in Photoshop to bring out the details in the trees and other darker areas. If you have photoshop CS that new Shadow/highlight contrast adjust is excellent, but I dodged the really dark areas at 10% to bring out detail and then I hit the buildings and meadow with a large sponge at 30% Saturation to bring out the colors Slightly tweaking with levels helps as well. I love the feeling of it, but when I look at the image, I feel it needs work. I'll send my version to you if you like.

What I do like is the clouds lifting in the morning and I don't think they look like brushfire, and the town has a lonely feeling to it that I really like.

the only thing I can see that would be of issue for me is the slight scorching in the cloud highlight which is a little out of sync with the muted feel of the rest of the shot. Its a beautiful capture and looks a great place to have a base camp :-) a fine job as always...

I like the cloud that have settled in at the base camp. I think the darkness reflects quite accurately how it would look to your eye if you were there judging by the dark clouds. There is only one thing that bothers me is that line that bisects this image top and bottom...right in the middle...was this from scanning?

It's magical when the clouds hug the mountains like this.

This is stunning there is so much energy radiating from this image. Must have been a real blustery day and make the clouds race across the sky like that. i think this is a totally amazing shot. Well done!! 10/10

This is absolutely beautiful! I love the whole feeling of the town surrounded by the mountains. I had to fave it!
When I clicked on the photo it had a deffinate green line through the middle. What is that?
