On a technical side I think you cropped the bottom a little so it does not show the bottom of the stem. However, I presume this was intentional to make it look as if it was connected to something. In that case I would have brushed the sand off the seaweed and perhaps added gouge marks in the sand to make it look more like a hand clawing at something, of had it grasping a shell, but certainly 'doing' something as it is not a colourful picture. The DoF is good and so is the clarity of the shot.
I t *does* look like a hand, doesn't it? I agree with crys though that a bit more would have helped the image. It's a bit two-dimensional (duh!) Nice shot though.

Thanks for the comments. This photo was taken with a few others on the same day the theme being things found at random on the beach.The intention was always a minimalistic approach as stated above which of course will end up with very simplistic and not too colourful photos. The title "sea fingers" was just a whimsical joke of a title and was never intended to represent fingers but rather just an abstract thought.
