Am curious, though, and providing what you are working with might provide a leaping off point for some more tips, advice, et al.
Off the top of my head, and in light of your title for your image here.. a Diffuse Glow Filter could work towards adding in some more pixel magic and conceptually speaking.
Or.. you might be able to glean/extrapolate some ideas/steps from this Photoshop tutorial, and towards the same creative ends:

Here's the end result. (The colour palette is similar to your image and demonstrates what else could be achieved creatively, if desired.)
