Sunrise Over Canard River

Took this shot this morning. When I got up this morning it was very foggy so grabbed the dog and my camera and went right out to the Canard River. This is a river that meanders through county and empties into Detroit River. It is filled with marshland which makes it very conducive to phtographers and artists. I caught this sunrise with mist over the river and a bench for Bob to sit. Come to think of it I think I will join him...

I am so glad you got up early Gerry - this is a beautiful photograph - love the mist and the subtle early morning sunrise colours. you better be quick or Bob will be lying down on the bench and there won't be any room for you! This image is now on my desktop and very lovely it looks too!

This was well worth getting up for Gerry! It's stunning! I love the progression of warm vibrant colors in the sky. The mist and the bench really add interest and detail to the scene. Into my favs and a 10 in the VB!

Anybody looking at this after me in thumbnail, please view it full size. It's wonderful and the thumbnail does it absolutely no justice whatsoever. The misty pink around the horizon line just above the lake is what first struck my eye and the way it stays misty until it hits out into the water and then clears to reflect the colors in the sky and the pretty silhouettes over on the far side of the river. The sky is a veritable cornicopia of colors and it rivals a rainbow with its subtle hues and changes from the band of orange to pure gold to light lavender and then on to the darker pastel of purple that starts to give way to the last vestiges of the early morning dark sky promising what looks to be a beautiful day ahead. That speaks to the clarity. The composition is equally as lovely with the huge shade tree just stretching its branches over the river on the left as it stirs and wakes with the heralding of the dawn, and I couldn't sleep on that bench if I wanted to with the light show that's being brilliantly performed in the every lightening sky. Excellent job all the way around. A post to be proud of :)PJ

Ha Gerry, you and I did the same thing this morning. Yours is super. I had a little morning fog as well. I love it. It makes for some great photos. The capture of the sunrise is elegantly reflected in the water more so than in the sky. Unique and creative. Beautifully accomplished.
