I am posting two pictures I took yesterday morning of a White Tailed Deer buck. I really did not get a great shot of this buck, but have been trying for about three weeks to capture them and finally got some shots of one of them. My focus was not perfect. I geuss I was, well I don't guess, I WAS excited to see these buck and did not set the focus on camera. I was just walking along path about 9:00AM when this guy came out of high grass about 20 yards away. he stopped and looked at me for a minute or so then went on his way. I tell you it for me it was quite a moment. Anyways, I am going to keep trying to get more shots of them. There are quite a few of them in herd right now as it is mating season and they are quite active. This shot you will have to look at it FULL SCREEN to see buck.

Hate to break it to you JQ, but a buck is a HE, and this is a young one. Good work on getting the shot you did, it's never easy getting good shots of deer. This is a very good example of how they blend in to their environment, a lot of people would go right on by and never know there was a deer standing there watching them.

I can understand your excitment at seeing this beautiful animal Gerry! and although the focus is not spot on, it does not matter, the colour is lovely and sort of mystical as is the appearance of the buck looking through the trees at you! Patti

Well. I know exactly how you feel. I have been confronted in the woods by a buck... you know they would run... but, WOULD THEY? You dont know until he runs off. Very exilirating.

I think this shot is just sensational, Jerry! The focus is perfect! It's an invitation to find the deer who is looking right at you and he looks very regal. It shows how they blend right into their backgrounds and his antlers blend with the leafless tree branches. The white autumn grasses add an appealing interest to the foreground and the colors are so calming and blended with the spots of sunlit area in the left foreground and right background. A really nicely balance image. This is a favorite for me.

Hi, I just had to stop and write out this comment. I saw this picture yesterday and didn't comment on it, because I commented on the other one, but it began to haunt me. It's now in my faves and I just stepped out of the voting booth after giving it a 10, and not because it was yours, but because of the way this looks like a painting and because it's the kind of image that stayed with me and my mind rested on it from time to time, so I am making up for my lack of comment here yesterday to tell you what an absolutely gorgeous presentation this turned out to be. Cynlee probably described it best. I would proudly display it on my walls..of course it's in my faves :)PJ

Gerry, great job on getting a fleeting opportunity. I love the surrounding of the deer and how he does blend in so well, yet is posed so nicely for you. I find it rather unfortunate that the little tree goes right across his eyes like that. Great photo.
