Just before I took this shot this squirel told me to take this side of him because it was more flattering!! Kidding aside this shot was taken at birdfeeder station at Nature Preserve. This guy was on top of a feeder. There is a storage shed next to feeder station with a porch. A lot of people like me get on this prch to take pictures of the birds. On this shot I leaned way over the railing on porch to get closer to this fellow. It worked, but by his eye you can see he was leary of me. This shot was taken with 70-300 zoom lens set at 300mm. Shutter was set at 1/2500 and aperture at F/6.3 and ISO at 800.

Wow Gerry - you really got him! Very good, especially hand-held (assumed as you were leaning over the railing!?) w/a big zoom!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

An amazing shot Gerry - that beady eye is full of depth.
I dont understand anything about ISO's etc (must learn one day :) ) But however you did it, it worked beautifully. 10/10 if I get it in the VB

Wonderful shot Gerry, great close up, I presume, this wasn't very easy to take, because the most squirels are very shy here (if we see them allready). This is really very well done Gerry!

Thanks for technical datas. What camera do you use? The 800 asa setting doesn't give any noise...

A close-up to be proud of Gerry .... Takes a shot like this to really appreciate the variety of color this guy has in his coat. I like how the light accentuates his far ear. Great work.
